Executive coaching focuses on improving an individual's performance. While that individual context is important (team, organisation, family), they are not active participants of executive coaching sessions.
With team coaching, especially systemic team coaching, I engage with a whole team across five disciplines to understand how they work with each other and the wider ecosystem around them.
As a leader, you can probably diagnose how your team suffers from one of the Five Disfunctions of a Team (absence of trust, fear of conflict, lack of commitment, avoidance of accountability or too much focus on individuals' success).
The challenge is having open, constructive conversations about the underlying causes of these issues and, most importantly, get everyone to commit and stick to a way forward.
This is where team coaching can make a difference. With me, you have access to a coach for your team as a unit, facilitating this dialogue and walking alongside you throughout the transformation it will require.
Yes, you could spend your retreat agreeing milestones for the next planning period, or bonding together as a team. These are all worthwhile, but unlikely to sustain your team on a path to becoming a better version of itself.
